Membership related FAQ

Where can I download my receipt?

You can download your receipt for payment of FSB Membership by logging into the website then choose ‘My FSB’, and ‘My Documents’. Your receipt will be available for download 5 working days after the receipt of payment.

I've not received my welcome pack?

Welcome packs can take up to three weeks to reach you. If you have not received your pack, you can call Customer Services on: 0808 20 20 888, between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Or email them: [email protected]. They will respond within 48 hours of receiving your enquiry.

Where can I find my membership number?

You can find your membership number printed on your membership certificate and on any renewal documentation sent in the post, or via email.

Do I receive a VAT receipt for my membership subscription

The membership payment is VAT exempt. However you can download a receipt  for your membership by logging into the "My account" section of the the FSB Website. The receipt will be available 5 working days after payment has been received.

Can I use FSB's logo?

Please note only FSB members are able to display the 'FSB Member' logo. If you are not a member and would still like to use FSB's logos for editorial use, please contact customer services.

To access and download the logo, you’ll need to log in to our website - the member logo is available on your member dashboard (My FSB>Dashboard). Remember, once downloaded to save to your PC, laptop, MAC, smartphone, or other deceives.

Use of FSB’s Member logo is to show your affiliation to FSB and is not a recommendation, or endorsement on behalf of the FSB.

I've just joined, how do I set my password?

Welcome to FSB!

You'll have received an email to the email address you registered with, click on the link and follow the steps to set up a password and create a security question. Once completed you will then be able to access the member area of the FSB website.

I want to pay by Direct Debit, how do I do this?

You can set up a Direct Debit as follows:

Call our Customer Service team on: 0808 20 20 888 between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays and they can get you setup with a Direct Debit payment.

If you are within a month of your membership renewal date, you can also renew and setup your Direct Debit online by logging in to your account and clicking "My FSB" in the top right corner.  Please note the online option will only be available if you are within a month of your renewal date. If you are unsure please call the Customer Services Team who will assist you through it.

Can I help FSB influence Government?

You can make your business and opinions count by joining FSB's Big Voice digital research community. Here you can take part in surveys, research discussions to have your say on issues affecting your business.

My account FAQ

My details have changed, how do I let FSB know?

Please do let us know as soon as your details change to ensure we get key information about your membership to you.

You can update your details by logging in and clicking 'My FSB'. You will need your email and password to hand to log in.

I've lost forgotten or need to reset my password?

If at any time you lose or forget your password, don’t worry, you can easily reset it by visiting www.fsb.org.uk click the 'Login' button and then the ‘forgotten password’ link under the login box.

You’ll be directed to the ‘forgotten password’ page where you’ll need to enter your email address. We will send you an email with a reset link which is valid for 24 hours.

How do I access the Legal Advice Line?

FSB members can access a team of qualified UK-based lawyers on the legal advice Line: 03450 727 727, available 24/7. 

Please have your membership number to hand when calling and remember to call before you take any action

How do I access my member benefits?

You have a range of specifically negotiated member benefits. Please login and check the 'Benefits' section on your dashboard for a full explanation of how to claim each benefit.

When I joined I was told I would have access to legal templates. I can't find them anywhere?

You can access the documents by logging in to your account on the FSB website. Go to 'My FSB' and choose 'Legal hub'.

Where can I find information on taking on an employee?

You can find help with template contracts, dismissal procedures and recruitment policies in the FSB Legal Hub. You can access the documents by logging in to your account on the FSB website. Go to 'My FSB' and choose 'Legal hub'.

Where can I find general advice on HR issues?

You can contact the legal advice Line on 03450 727 727, 24/7. Please have your FSB membership number to hand when calling.

How can you help if there is an active local issue which may be detrimental to my business?

What legal and tax cover do I have with membership?

The legal and tax cover you receive as part of your FSB Membership is available on your legal protection insurance certificate which came with your welcome pack, or you can view an electronic copy in the member dashboard of FSB’s website.

Alternatively, you can call the legal claims team: 01253 336 026 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Remember to phone before you act.

A customer hasn't paid for their invoice, how can you help?

Your first option is to use the FSB Debt Recovery service which gives you the opportunity to recover your money and provides a full range of services and a dedicated helpline. 

Alternatively call the legal advice line on: 03450 727 727, available 24/7. Remember to have your membership number to hand when calling.

Finally, you can also access your FSB Legal Hub and utilise one of the template letters. Don't forget you will need to log in with your member number and password.

I'm a new member, can I access all the benefits of FSB membership right away?

Yes. All of your member benefits are active from the time your payment was accepted.

Details can be found in your welcome pack, which will be with you within the next three weeks. You can also view your benefits by logging onto our website.

Remember, you’ll need to create a password first, then you will be able to log in to the website and access your benefits, including essential legal documents and templates.

I have been selected for a tax investigation. What do I do now?

If you have been selected for investigation, you need to contact the legal claims team on: 01253 336 026, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Remember to phone before you act.

The team will guide you through the process and what you need to do next.

Can I use FSB services for other companies?

Yes. Because your FSB membership is tied to you and not the business, you are able to use all the benefits of membership (including the legal protection cover) for any company that you are a director, or a partner in, as long as the total number of employees for all businesses combined does not exceed 249 – as per the terms of membership.

Can I use my accountant if I have a tax investigation?

No. The investigation will be handled by FSB’s Legal Services team.

However, should the team need any information from your accountant, a fee is agreed between them and will be covered by our legal protection insurance. You can view a copy of the legal protection insurance certificate in the 'My FSB' section of FSB’s website (available on your dashboard once you've logged in).

You’ll need to log in with your member number and password.

I need to make a claim on my legal insurance

To make a claim under the legal insurance, you will need to call the legal claims team on: 01253 336 026 between 9pm and 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Please have your FSB membership number to hand when calling.
