There are numerous grants and funds available for Welsh businesses to apply for at present, all to assist with supporting the local areas within Wales

This easy-to-read summary provides a brief overview of all the funds highlighted over the past few months, allowing you to easily identify which may be applicable to your business.

Shared Prosperity Fund Local Authority Small Business Funding

Find out all the latest available Shared Prosperity Key Funds available in your local area. Please note this is not an exhaustive list of all grants and finance support available but is a summary of funds that have been shared with us. Wrexham

Wrexham Business Grant Key Fund 

One of the four UK Shared Prosperity Key Funds available in Wrexham County Borough, the purpose of this grant is to help financially viable enterprises to start-up, grow and expand or improve business performance. The fund is open to qualifying pre-start and existing enterprises, generating revenue from business activity within the county and will support up to 50% of costs for an eligible capital or revenue project with the grant amount range between £3,000 to £50,000. Flintshire & Denbighshire

Cadwyn Clwyd Cyfryngedig

Cadwyn Clwyd Cyfryngedig is a social enterprise which provides guidance and support to communities and enterprises in North East Wales and further afield. They have a range of funding project opportunities available including Prosperous Denbighshire,  Denbighshire Business Collaboration Fund, Flintshire Tourism Growth Fund, Flintshire Tourism Feasibility Fund, Prosperous Communities Flintshire Key Fund and Prosperous Communities Wrexham Key Fund. Carbon Reduction Grant

The Flintshire Fund Carbon Reduction Grant is now live. The grant will be used to support businesses to create a Carbon Reduction Plan, establishing a position in relation to energy, resource usage, transport, culture and other operational activity. Grants range from £1000 - £5000 with 20% match from your business towards the costs. To be eligible for the grant you must be a business trading for 2 or more years, be based in Flintshire and operate from a business premise. The first stage is an Expression of Interest (EOI) to assess eligibility and a response will be received within working days. Find Out More

Conwy

Local Business Key Fund Conwy

Funded by the UK Government, the fund will support local (commercial or social) businesses to renew and develop into the future, supporting economic growth and sustainability. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda, providing £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The fund aims to improve pride in place and to support local businesses by investing in communities, people and skills. Applications are now being accepted for the scheme offering up to 70% on capital and/or revenue expenditure for projects, awarding between £3,000 and £100,000. Find Out More

Gwynedd

Town Centre Property Improvement Grant 

The Town Centre Property Improvement Grant is a successor to a successful fund in 2022, which helped 38 businesses across 13 Gwynedd towns improve the look and appearance of their commercial properties. The grant is available for independent, small and medium sized businesses who operate or plan to operate within town and city centres within Gwynedd. The minimum amount that can be awarded is £2,500 with the maximum being £250,000. Find Out More

Business Development Fund 

The Business Development Fund will offer to help local businesses recover and develop into the future by saving costs and/or increasing their income. The minimum amount that can be awarded is £2,500 with the maximum being £250,000. Find Out More

Gwynedd Enterprise Hub Support Package

This support aims to provide a full wrap around package of hands on support and tailored financial assistance to help individuals in Gwynedd and Anglesey to navigate the complexities of setting up a business. As well as financial assistance there will also be access to 1-2-1 advice sessions, networking opportunities as well as knowledge workshops covering topics including business planning, financial forecasting, business legalities, online self-assessment, branding and marketing. To be eligible you must be over 16, reside in Gwynedd or Anglesey and looking for support of up to £2500. Find Out More

Anglesey

Mon CF

Two new grants have been launched to help support businesses in Anglesey. The Start-Up Grant will support businesses looking to start their own small business, helping to cover start-up costs and only eligible purchases such as tools, furniture, IT and advertising. The Small Business Grant will support businesses and the self-employed in Anglesey to cover costs of developing their business further. The deadline for these funds is the end of November 2024. Other Funding Scheme Opportunities

Future Proofing Fund

Grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 will be available to eligible micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Wales within the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. The Welsh Government funding is designed to help them to reduce their running costs and strengthen their future trading position by increasing profitability through investment in renewable energy technology, improvements to their premises and upgrades to systems or machinery. Young Person’s Start Up Grant – Wales

Following the pandemic, the Welsh Government is committed to helping young people in Wales under the age of 25 reach their potential. The Young Person’s Start Up Grant has been developed and to understand the needs of young entrepreneurs and will be available up to 2025. The aim of the grant is to enable young people not in education, employment or training, to start their own business, create a social enterprise, become self-employed, a freelances or social entrepreneur in Wales. Grants up to £2,000 are available alongside a package of support which includes one-to-one advice and webinars to build confidence in business practices and developing business plans. Find Out More

Access Broadband Cymru

Access Broadband Cymru is providing grants to fund or part-fund the equipment and installation costs of new broadband connections for homes and businesses in Wales. The new connection must at least double your current download speed, therefore delivering a significant change in speed for you.

The levels of funding you can apply for will depend on the connection speed and will be £400 for 10Mbps and above or £800 for 30Mbps and above. Find Out More

UK Government’s Community Ownership Fund

Pubs in Wales will receive a total of £694,250 from the UK Government’s Community Ownership Fund to allow them to stay open and serve the needs of local people. The money will allow locals to restore the pubs so they can benefit their communities and attract visitors. By taking ownership of local institutions that have fallen into states of disrepair or under threat of closure and give them a new lease of life, this will ensure the venues continue to provide vital services and boost local economies. The amount of funding that can be bid for has increased from £250,000 to £1 million. Find Out More

Be Active Wales Fund

The Be Active Wales Fund offers grants from £300 to £50,000 for projects in Wales that intend to promote equality, sustainability and innovation in sport. Funded by The National Lottery, the grant supports sports clubs and community organisations across Wales to improve access to physical activity. All not-for-profit sports clubs or organisations in Wales can apply, regardless of size or location and the grant can be used to support the upskilling of volunteers, purchasing of new equipment, developing new or different ways to deliver physical activity and the use of technology to engage people. Find Out More

The new £20 million SMART Flexible Innovation Support (SMART FIS) programme is designed to invest in new cutting-edge research and innovation. It will support organisations to innovate and create new products and services, improve skills, and help to develop RD&I capability and capacity to support sustainable growth.
