Event details

A regular online event and space for FSB LGBT+ members, allies, and other businesses to connect, exchange insights, learn, and offer each other support. During these virtual events, participants can expect either a brief presentation followed by interactive Q&A and networking, or the chance to engage in informal networking within breakout rooms.

Inclusive language is too often delivered top-down, in the abstract; to have meaningful effect.
 
This session will be rooted within participants’ own lived experience, giving them immediately transferrable knowledge that shows, not tells, them what inclusive language can do for them and their businesses.

We will hear from Vanessa Plaister (she/her), who is an Inclusive language specialist, providing editing and consultancy services as edi tor.com.

Vanessa is an Advanced Professional Member (APM) of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and a qualified equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) professional.
Inclusive language is where those two skill sets meet and merge.

Vanessa is currently living on unceded Anishinābe Algonquin territories in lands known as Canada. She’ll be returning to the UK later this year—to Somerset and a view of Glastonbury Tor.
