The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards Yorkshire & The Humber 2024 winners announced

The Leeds Library hosted the 2024 Yorkshire & the Humber Regional Awards. Twelve winning businesses from Yorkshire & The Humber collected their award from Regional Chair Simon Williams and will now go forward to the national UK FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2024 finals in Blackpool.

The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards celebrate the best small businesses from the length and breadth of the country, offering national recognition for those who have made the biggest impression over the last 12 months. Finalists across twelve areas now proceed to the national UK finals taking place at a VIP attended awards ceremony on 9 May in Blackpool. 

The Yorkshire & The Humber winners are:

Innovation Award. Trustist Limited, York.

Trustist Limited use innovation to find fresh ways to boost growth and sales for their clients. They were one of the first to simplify Google review collection and introduce automated video reviews. Their ever present drive for progress keeps them a step ahead of competitors and provides real value to their clients. The company used innovation to develop TrustistTransfer and TrustistEcommerce solutions for their customers in 2023 increasing engagement and sales. 

Expansion and Growth Award. Hetty & Betty, Ackworth

Hetty & Betty is a unique, thriving restaurant and venue in the heart of Whitby, North Yorkshire. They have seen exponential growth in turnover with their business practices seeing them standout from their competitors to build a solid foundation for continued future growth.  

Sustainability Award. Winner: SeaGrown, Scarborough

SeaGrown stands as the UK's pioneering offshore seaweed farming company, chartering new waters in sustainable cultivation. Securing the nation's first offshore seaweed farming license, SeaGrown strategically operates in the open seas, addressing the limitations of inshore waters and revolutionizing traditional methods. Through innovative, fully automated systems, SeaGrown not only ensures unparalleled efficiencies in seaweed production but also positions itself as a key player in environmental stewardship. Committed to sustainability and collaboration with major marine industries, SeaGrown introduces 'Kelpedo,' an end-to-end farming system poised to transform the global seaweed industry, marking a significant stride towards a greener, more resilient future.  

Family Business of the Year. Horizon Care, Dinnington

Horizon Care, is a Yorkshire based family owned and run care provider. Founded with a personal mission informed by lived experiences of care. Horizon Care empowers the people it supports to live independently, guided by the ethos "Our Family, Caring For Your Family." 

Microbusiness of the Year. And Marketing Ltd +, Howden

And Marketing Ltd. is a marketing agency based in Howden, East Yorkshire. In 2020, their Director, Michelle, created a company where small business leaders could expect strategic thinking for their marketing and efficient, flexible implementation at the same time. With a comprehensive range of digital marketing services, And Marketing prides itself on finding workable solutions to maximise modest marketing budgets, increasing brand awareness, generating leads and achieving brilliant results. 

Self-employed / Freelancer Award. Gill Page, Medieval Music in the Dales, Richmond

Gill Page’s Medieval Music in the Dales is the UK's only festival of medieval music and is indeed celebrated as 'globally unique', combining top quality musical performance with informal music-making and learning. Operating independently of public arts funding it attracts the highest calibre of performers from across the world, as well as an ever-growing international audience, to the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales.  

Start-up Business of the Year. The Dales Dog Deli, Leyburn

Stephen Benson self-funded and launched The Dales Dog Deli in Leyburn. A previously qualified dog trainer his dream was to open a pet shop with a difference. With month on month business growth the business, providing healthy and natural treats for dogs, has received excellent customer feedback, resulted in the need to take on additional resource  and creates a fun shopping experience for both humans and their four legged friends. 

Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Emma Hartshorne, Forelock and Fringe, Huddersfield

They are the UK's number one horse and rider subscription box with thousands of monthly subscribers worldwide. Tailored subscription boxes, centred around the hectic equestrian lifestyle whilst collaborating with some of the top brands to connect equestrians with their new favourite products for both horse & rider. At twenty-six years of age Emma has established a solid business model providing her business with a foundation to continue business growth in future years. 

Franchise Business Award. Winner: Musical Moments TM, Tadcaster

Their success has been driven by an unwavering commitment to inclusivity and personalised interaction all driven by Maggie Baker based in Tadcaster. The franchise model has been instrumental in expanding the business whilst maintaining a local and personable approach. 

Community Business Award. YES Energy Solutions, Halifax

Yorkshire Energy Services is a Community Interest Company on a mission to alleviate fuel poverty. Trading under the name YES Energy Solutions, they work with local authorities and commercial partners delivering services to alleviate fuel poverty and reduce CO2 emissions. 

Diversity and Inclusion Award. Harrison College, Doncaster

Harrison College is a specialist business, enterprise, and employability post-16 years education provision for students with autism, asperger’s, and special educational needs. They provide a challenging and future focused environment with the aspirations of the student at the centre of all that they do.  

Service Excellence Award. Yorkshire Spa Retreat, York

Yorkshire Spa Retreat offers luxurious lodges with hot tubs, outdoor dining, and exclusive guest experience packages ranging from wine tasting to clay pigeon shooting.
