Stop! Think Fraud

Major national campaign to fight fraud launched

In December 2023, FSB published its report - ‘Cracking the Case : Uncovering the cost of business crime’ and following this, FSB London urged the London Mayoral candidates to set out how they’d prioritise tackling business crime.

Within the FSB report, specific recommendations were made to the Home Office including how to tackle cybercrime and fraud.

Fraud is the most prevalent crime in the UK, impacting on millions of victims both financially and emotionally, costing almost £7 billion a year. Worryingly, incidents of small business cybercrime have more than tripled, highlighting the ineffectiveness of measures taken against business crime to date. Fraud accounts for 41 per cent of offences in England and Wales and has a negative impact on local economies.

On 12 February 2024, the UK Government/Home Office launched the national ‘Stop! Think Fraud’ campaign and website – a significant milestone in the Home Office’s delivery of the Fraud Strategy, which was published in May 2023.

Visit the Stop! Think Fraud website. Find out if you are at risk; Protect yourself from fraud; How to spot fraud; Report a fraud; Recovery from fraud.
