FSB awards recognising the support local authorities give to small businesses gains headline sponsor

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has announced social media management company, Maybe*, as the headline sponsor of its new FSB Local Government Awards.

The free-to-enter awards will recognise local authorities that have demonstrated their support of small businesses within their communities, from delivering business advice and grants through to partnership programmes and adopting a small business-friendly approach.

The virtual awards ceremony is being held on 14 October and will be hosted by BBC Radio presenter, Dave Sharpe.

Headline sponsor Maybe* joins venue sponsors DRP Group, NCG, and Kidderminster College.

Maybe* works with the UK Government, local government, and small businesses in many areas across the UK, providing local business support through 24/7 access to tools and training that take the guesswork out of social media insights. Maybe* also provides government with data on consumer behaviour to help shape future policy on retail and business support.

Richard Askew, FSB English Policy Unit Chair, said:

“Our awards are designed to recognise local authorities and councils who excel in supporting small businesses, as well as sharing best practice to help them implement small business-friendly plans and policies.

“We are delighted that Maybe* is sponsoring FSB’s first England-wide local government awards programme. As a social media management company helping small businesses and local government understand the opportunities social media bring, they are the perfect fit for our awards.”

Polly Barnfield OBE, CEO of Maybe*, said:

“Having seen first-hand the positive impact that local government partnerships with local businesses can have, it's a real pleasure to support these FSB Local Government Awards that will showcase what can be achieved.

“Local businesses need ongoing support and local government is well placed to enable it through collaborations with specialist providers such as Maybe and employer representative bodies such as FSB.”
