Opportunities to work with Wiltshire schools and colleges

Local News 29 Mar 2024

Take advantage of opportunities to raise the profile of your business and your sector with the employees of the future

There are lots of opportunities to raise the profile of your business and your sector with the employees of the future via Swindon and Wiltshire’s schools and colleges over the next few months. Here are a few of them:

T Level Placements

Many of our local colleges are offering T Levels – the vocational equivalent of A Levels. Students can choose from a broad range of vocational subjects and complete classroom study alongside work experience in a relevant industry. That’s where you (the employers) come in! Could you offer an opportunity for these students to develop the skills and experience to ready them for the workforce – maybe even a role with you?

T Level placements are really flexible. You can offer a week, a month, a day each week for a set period; for an individual or a group. You can even team up with other employers to share the workload and allow the students to broaden their experience. Do you have a business challenge or task that would suit a career starter? Why not get it solved/completed for you by these talented young people? You can give them a great experience for their work portfolio and see whether they might be a good fit for your business in the longer term.

Inclusive Employment

The Swindon and Wiltshire Careers Hub, and Horizons College would like to invite you to a virtual Lunch & Learn webinar on Wednesday 24th April, 12:00-13:00.

The webinar will advise employers on how to make their workplace more inclusive and provide insight on ways to support young people that are eager to transition into the workplace. Hear from local employers who are already supporting young people with additional needs and learn how to unlock this largely untapped talent pool and what support is available to maximise such opportunities.

The free webinar is open to organisations of all sizes; please feel free to share the opportunity with colleagues and other business professionals who may be interested in attending. Please register using this online MS Form

Virtual Work Experience

Thanks to new funding from the Careers and Enterprise Company, students in rural and coastal areas (including Swindon and Wiltshire) can access virtual work experience for free through a partnership with Speakers for Schools. Please join this webinar to find out how your organisation could deliver virtual work experience through their easy-to-use platform.
