FSB Member Story 9 Oct 2023

Having started the business on a dining room table, Metal Seagulls is flying high at Haverfordwest Airport, building, maintaining and operating light aircraft. We chat to founders Patricia Mawuli Porter OBE and Jonathan Porter about what it's like to run their business.

Metal Seagulls is a leading company in the UK for non-part-21 light aircraft and is an agent for Zenith Aircraft, ULPower Aero Engines, DUC propellers and Aircraft Spruce, with a geographic coverage of UK, Ireland, Iceland, the Falkland Islands and Africa. Metal Seagulls also sells specialist products and solutions throughout Europe and Africa.

Founded and managed by Patricia Mawuli Porter OBE and Jonathan Porter, the duo owns the Haverfordwest-based aerospace company. Patricia is the first civilian Ghanaian women to obtain a Ghanaian Pilots license and the only black female aircraft inspector in the UK for the light Aircraft Association and British Microlight Aircraft Association.

"We started the business in 2016, running from the dining room table, second hand from the British Heart Foundation," recalls Patricia. "Today we are leading the way in nexgen light aviation developments and all metal light aircraft production capacity in the UK."
