FSB London volunteers attend ‘Crimes Against Business Policy Group’ with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB)

FSB London volunteers from our ‘Crimes Against Business Policy Group’ attended an in-person roundtable event with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) taking the opportunity to share the small business voice in discuss the reporting of fraud, the impact of cybercrime amongst other business crime activities which have a negative impact on doing business and the economy.

The NFIB sits alongside Action Fraud within the City of London Police which is the National policing lead for economic crime.

Action Fraud is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime where you should report fraud if you have been scammed, defrauded or experienced cybercrime.

  • Always report any fraud and if you have been scammed, defrauded or experienced cyber crime to Action Fraud. See guide to reporting
  • Inform yourself and your staff. Action Fraud leaflets, posters, fraud and cybercrime fact sheets and info-graphics and other available resources
  • All reports made to Action Fraud, whether by phone or online, are sent to the NFIB for an initial assessment. Due to the volume of fraud reports received each month (around 35,000), this initial assessment can take up to around 28 days. Once the assessment has been completed, the person who made the report will receive a letter from the NFIB explaining the next steps. This may include whether the report has been passed to a police force for them to consider investigative opportunities. Neither Action Fraud or the NFIB have investigative powers.
  • New suppliers appointed for Action Fraud service replacement was announced in June 2023. The new fraud and cybercrime reporting service will be backed by advanced technology and highly trained staff. It will simplify and improve the reporting experience for the public while giving law enforcement the intelligence they need to investigate and disrupt more fraudsters. Read the full press release.
