Moving into a new area of business can be a challenge, but when FileDoc decided to offer web design and media marketing services, it also saw an opportunity to take on a new member of staff.
FileDoc, which employs 10 people and is located in Huddersfield, is traditionally focused on supplying printers, photocopiers and related devices. When it decided to branch into web design and media marketing, however, it made the move by taking on an apprentice.
“This has enabled the business to create a new income stream in line with our business strategy going forward,” said Margaret Hanson, Director of FileDoc.
“We have been able to incorporate media marketing as part of our promotional work and produce top-quality marketing material in house to support all areas of the company’s business.”
Apprentice Jordon Hanley joined FileDoc, then aged 17, in November 2016 to complete his Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in IT. His role includes web and print design, media marketing, canvassing and making follow-up calls to generate leads for new business.
“Jordon has gained an enormous amount of confidence and experience in developing his skills and work temperament,” added Margaret.
“He was tasked with leading on creating a website for Olympic athlete Yona Knight-Wisdom in his first month, which was launched at an event in May at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. This is a great accomplishment and we are very pleased with the results, as is Yona.”
