Brexit

The Issue

Since the outcome of the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union (EU), FSB has undertaken a comprehensive research programme to analyse the potential opportunities and risks of Brexit. Our research has been based directly on what the small business community and our members have told us is important to them, we have found this out through a series of surveys, focus groups and interviews. We will publish our findings in a four part Brexit series of reports, structured around the four areas of most concern for our members – trading with EU and non EU  markets, access to labour/skills, EU funding, and the future of regulation. This project is led by FSB UK, working closely with FSB in each of the Devolved Nations, as well as with the English Regions.

Action FSB have taken

  • We’ve commissioned a comprehensive research programme to analyse the potential opportunities and risks of the UK leaving the EU.
  • Engaged with key stakeholders in Government including the Prime Minister to ensure the voice of small businesses is heard each step of the way.
  • The four part Brexit research series will be published shortly. These reports will be on trading with with the single market and non-EU markets, access to labour/skills, EU funding, and the future of regulation.

Our Goal

We respect the outcome of the EU referendum vote. It’s now our role to ensure our members get the best deal out of Brexit, one that does not inhibit growth but fosters it. The aim of our research is to inform the Brexit negotiations to ensure the best possible outcome for small businesses.
