Unlocking Business Grants in Essex

Join ‘Backing Essex Business’ at this free online webinar, where they will be sharing the different grants available, help you to understand the process of applying for grants, finding the best ones for your business and other finance options available.

This webinar on Friday, 22 March from 10:00am to 12:30pm is for businesses based in Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock).

Epping Forest District Council ‘Meet the Construction Buyer’ event

At this event you will be able to:

  • Talk to developers and contractors to find out more about construction-related supply chain opportunities, the range of products, and skills/services sought
  • Find out how to go about successfully tendering for work.
  • Discuss with training and skills providers about how they can support any up-skilling needs and the advantages of offering apprenticeships

Grants available from ARU Arise Innovation Hubs

Grants of up to £5,000, aimed at encouraging new products or services in the HealthTech and MedTech sectors, are now available.

If you are working on new and innovative projects, and are a local entrepreneur within a start-up, social enterprise, or not-for-profit organisation, then you could be eligible for funding.

Applications start with expressing your interest and a one-to-one chat. You will then be guided through the submission process with a funding decision made quickly on a rolling basis.

Apprenticeship networking event

If you have any interest or involvement in apprenticeships, then this networking event could be for you.

Run by the East of England Apprenticeships Ambassador Network, and hosted by FSB members Stort Valley Gifting, this event takes place on Tuesday 19th March from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Free Health Checks

The NHS Health Check has been specifically designed to identify health risks, such as: heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of dementia.

This 20 to 30 minute session will measure your weight, height and blood pressure. You will also be asked questions about your family’s medical history and your own medical history/lifestyle.

After your health check, you will be given advice on the best action to take to lower any risks and create a healthier lifestyle. This could include anything from diet to exercise or even certain medicines to control blood pressure.

If you are between 40 and 70, then email [email protected] or call 0300 303 9988 to set up a free health check. Alternatively, if you run a business, speak to one of the team about holding NHS Health Checks for staff in your place of work.

Chelmsford BID Awards

‘Chelmsford For You’, the city’s Business Improvement District, are currently accepting nominations for their Business Awards.

If you have a physical shop/office premises within the BID area of Chelmsford City Centre, then you can nominate yourself or someone else for one of 10 categories.
