Local News 20 Feb 2024

The Business and Education Together Partnership (BETP) is a Merthyr Tydfil-based partnership, which includes the Aspire Apprenticeship programme, Careers Wales, Inspire2Achieve, the Welsh Valleys Engineering Project, EE and primary and secondary school representatives.

BETP’s aim is to improve the educational opportunities for all pupils in Merthyr Tydfil, acknowledging that every child has the right to succeed.

The BETP is underpinned by its SEAL pledge: School and Employers Aspiring Learners. This is an official pledge made by both schools and employers in the area to show their commitment to working together to improve Careers and Work-Related Experiences for pupils. This is vital in the development of Curriculum for Wales and BETP’s vision is to be acknowledged as a borough that provides outstanding career opportunities and pathways for its pupils.

BETP’s recently launched website documents the work done to date as well as showcasing the partnership’s vision. On the website, BETP also outlines its 8 Growth and Priority Sectors as outlined by the Cardiff City Region: Tourism & Hospitality, Renewable Energies, Health, Digital Technologies, Creative Industries & Media, Advanced Manufacturing, Financial Technology (Fintech) and Construction.

BETP would like to engage with businesses and organisations from these sectors to help equip pupils with the skills they need to enter the workforce as skilled, learned professionals.
