Following the launch of a review into business rates by the Department of Finance, FSB NI Head of External Affairs, Roger Pollen has said rates policy must deliver for all small businesses.
Commenting, Roger Pollen said:
“We very much welcome the much needed review into business rates launched today. FSB led the campaign for the Small Business Rate Relief scheme to be introduced in 2010 and is our view that support should now be built on.
“Over the last few years businesses in other parts of the UK have benefited from enhanced relief which has led to additional funds for the Northern Ireland block grant, but which hasn’t been passed on to businesses here.
“It is important that additional support recognises the value and contribution that all types of small businesses make to our towns, villages and high streets.
“We have sought and secured a meeting with officials and look forward to engaging with the review.”
