Business Funding For New Scots Support

Local News 9 May 2023

UHI Moray Employability Department have recently been awarded funding from the ‘Supporting New Scots Fund’ to support Refugees in Moray gain employability skills to move them closer to volunteering or the employment market. UHI Moray would like to offer refugees employer visits, mock interviews and work placement in an English-speaking environment.

If your business or organisation is in a position to take on clients for unpaid work placement/shadowing, please email [email protected] by Monday 15th May to note your interest. There is no obligation to offer a job at the end of their work placement. UHI Moray would pay all travel expenses and for clients PVG, if required, and placements can be 2 weeks or 1-2 day per week for up to 6 weeks.

All refugee clients have the right to live and work in the UK and majority of them are also studying English for other speakers here at UHI Moray. We are keen to match refugees with the sector they have qualifications and experience working in before they had to leave their country. They will have varying levels of spoken and written English but will have some experience or training in your sector.
