All aboard for FSB Essex Small Business Summer Social!

Local News 14 Jul 2023

It was all hands on deck this month, as FSB Essex held their Small Business Summer Social.

Joining forces with Maldon District Council and North Essex Economic Board the team at FSB Essex brought small business owners and the self employed an afternoon of networking in the sun.

Held at The Swallowtail Restaurant at Burnham Yacht Harbour, guests were treated to talks from the trio about the support on offer, whilst enjoying an afternoon tea style buffet.

Ann Scott, Development Manager (Essex) at Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said:

“Whilst running a business can be rewarding, it can also be challenging. Events like this are a great way to share experiences and navigate together the small business journey. Over 40 attendees networked, collaborated, promoted their services, and supported each other at this stunning Essex location. The sun stayed out all day, so we could enjoy the views from the balcony. We are incredibly grateful to Maldon District Council and North Essex Economic Board for working in partnership on this event. Everyone was pleased to hear how they are working hard to support small businesses and how they plan to invest their UK Shared Prosperity Funding. We are also grateful to the North Essex Economic Board for sponsoring the event”.

Guests also heard from Colin Stracey, FSB Member, and Director of Premier Sailing who are moored at the yacht harbour and delighted guests with a tour of the yachts.

Colin had just returned from his ‘Sail Around Britain’ fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of his son, James, who passed away from cancer last year.

Business life doesn’t have to be lonely. With hundreds of FSB events happening across the country, there should always be something to interest you.
