FSB NI meets with Prime Minister and Business Secretary

FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie today met with the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Andrea Leadsom at 10 Downing Street, as part of a wider delegation of FSB members.

Commenting, following the meeting, Tina McKenzie said:

“Today’s meeting was frank and productive focusing on the domestic issues which affect small businesses right across the UK, such as infrastructure, planning and late payments.

“It was encouraging that the Prime Minister and Business Secretary discussed support for small businesses to grow by using fiscal incentives. I took the opportunity to reiterate support for devolving Corporation Tax to Northern Ireland and reducing the rate to increase our competitiveness.

“However, for such positive interventions to be most effective we need a stable environment by avoiding a disorderly exit from the EU.

“Therefore, it was welcome to hear the Prime Minister commit to achieving a Brexit deal so we can end this ongoing uncertainty and begin to focus on how we grow our economy for the benefit of everyone.”
