City Deal progress in the North-West a welcome step

Responding to the news that the Derry and Strabane District Area is to receive more than £100 million of UK government funding as part of a City Deal, FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie has welcomed the move and called on the Northern Ireland Executive to be restored so maximum value can be gained from the projects.

Commenting, FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie said:

“FSB has been a strong advocate for City Deals for both the Belfast and the Derry/Londonderry City Regions, and has engaged with government on this issue, therefore we very much welcome the announcement that more than £100 million in funding is to be committed.

“In order to ensure maximum value for the City Deal projects, it is imperative that the talks which have just commenced bear fruit, and that devolved government is restored so that projects can be given ministerial approval.

“It is vital that SMEs also have a role in City Deal projects, which will enable the widest possible benefit for local communities.”
