So if you can’t secure benefits from price cuts, what can you do? The short answer is that you need to lower your carbon footprint, the less energy you use, the less you will be charged. That’s the best way to save your small business money – and it helps the environment too!
Your first point of call should be your staff. Lowering your carbon footprint looks good and feels good, plus it’s a great way to bring your team together. If they aren’t already aware, inform them of ways that you can save money. By starting simple, there’s a much higher chance that you’ll continue with the scheme into the future.
Here are some great examples:
If you want to go one step further, there are other ways to save yourself even more money. Think about how you might generate your own clean energy. Having solar panels fitted onto your roof can be costly, but you will soon begin to reap the benefits.
There are always opportunities to source funding that will support your small business with its carbon initiative, take a look at sites such as the Energy Savings Trust or the Carbon Trust for more information. You may also be eligible for tax relief if you decided to bring in equipment that is energy efficient.
We know how resilient and resourceful small business owners are, and we’d love to hear from anyone who has managed to save themselves a significant figure by going green. Contact us today via email@example.com with the subject header of ‘Going Green’ and we could feature your story our website.
We look forward to hearing from you!
As a member of the FSB, all your energy needs are covered.
