Reaction to FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie landing new UK role as Deputy Chair, Policy and Advocacy on the FSB UK Board of Directors

High-profile Northern Ireland business leader, Tina McKenzie, has been appointed to a new role on the UK Board of Directors of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Tina, who has spent more than three years as Chair of FSB’s Northern Ireland Policy Unit, has been selected to be the organisation’s national Deputy Chair, Policy & Advocacy.

In her volunteer role in Northern Ireland, she has been instrumental in helping small businesses and the self-employed to navigate the changing circumstances brought by Brexit and the business challenges of the Covid pandemic.

Her work has included top-level meetings with Prime Ministers, the Taoiseach and senior EU officials, as well as Northern Ireland’s key decision-makers.

Tina is a recruitment and employment services entrepreneur, behind a market-leading business across the island of Ireland, which she combines with her volunteer work at FSB. She will join the existing national Board of Directors, which is made up of FSB member small business owners.

FSB National Chairman Mike Cherry said: “FSB is proud to represent the UK’s small business and self-employed community. Our volunteers, alongside a dedicated staff team, work hard to support entrepreneurs right across the country and in every sector, and to give small businesses the big voice they deserve. Tina brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, and I’m delighted to welcome her to the national Board of Directors in this exciting new role.”

Tina McKenzie said: “The last couple of years have been an incredibly challenging period for small businesses across the UK. In my role with FSB in Northern Ireland I have been privileged to be in a position to speak up loudly and clearly for smaller businesses as the Brexit process happened and the Covid pandemic struck. I’m delighted now to have the opportunity to take up a UK-wide role, and I’m committed to continue making sure the needs of smaller businesses are to the fore with all of our political decision-makers.”
