Thanks to the incredible engagement and support of FSB Volunteers in London, we have delivered over 200 virtual events since March 2020, and led the way for the launch of FSB’s virtual events across the UK.
It was the inspired suggestion of Susan Kabani to take our regular Ealing event online, following the lockdown restrictions imposed in March 2020. The success of this event led to previously physical events in the London boroughs of Brent, Bromley, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Hackney following in their footsteps. This successful trial of virtual events across London was soon adopted by all FSB regions.
This new way of networking created a desire amongst London members to ‘be more FSB’, with many stepping forward wanting to help and support small businesses to stay connected within their communities by becoming volunteer Event Leads.
Now with 18 events taking place monthly across London, we say thank you to all of the volunteers who are making a positive contribution to supporting small businesses - the backbone of the UK economy.
Our London events represent the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Brent/Harrow, Croydon, Ealing/Hounslow, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Kingston upon Thames/Richmond upon Thames, Lewisham, London and Essex Borders, North London, Southwark/Lambeth, and Westminster.
In addition, our Event Leads host the following networking events monthly too - B.A.M.E, LGBTQ+, Women in Business and Wellbeing.
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to an organisation that has impacted on a person's life, either directly or indirectly, or give back to the local community, or make a difference to the people around them. There are many benefits to volunteering and what unites volunteers is that they find volunteering both challenging and rewarding.
