North-South Interconnector decision must be re-determined urgently

Responding to the news that the Department for Infrastructure has conceded in the Judicial Review on the North-South Interconnector, FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie stresses the need for the project to progress.

Commenting, FSB NI Policy Chair, Tina McKenzie said:

“The North-South Interconnector is one of Northern Ireland’s key infrastructure projects, with significant potential to ensure security of supply, reduce energy costs and boost the local economy.

“News that the project will face further delay will be met with dismay by small businesses throughout Northern Ireland, who want to see progress made.

“The delay in this project is symptomatic of the decision making stasis which Northern Ireland has faced in the two years without an Assembly and Executive.

“We would urge the Department for Infrastructure to use its decision making powers recently conferred by the Secretary of State to re-determine the decision urgently.”
