FSB Wales response to Welsh Government investment in Colwyn Bay town centre

Commenting on the news that £1.4 million is to be invested in Colwyn Bay town centre, Mike Learmond, North Wales Senior Development Manager, said:

“Investment in Colwyn Bay town centre is extremely welcome news, particularly coming as it does at a similar time to the local authority relocating its offices and 700 members of staff to the town.

“Upcoming FSB research on the future of our Welsh towns highlights the need for us to think creatively about how we ensure a thriving future for towns in Wales. Tackling issues such as vacant units, business rates and revitalising our high streets are key elements of this, and investment from Welsh Government in Colwyn Bay to bring vacant spaces back into use is a positive step in this regard.

“We look forward to working closely with partners in Colwyn Bay as this funding is put to good use, as well as working alongside Welsh Government to deliver a strong future for Welsh towns across North Wales and the rest of the country.”
