FSB Wales discusses economic development policy at the Welsh Labour Conference 2013

Event:  Business Round Table

Location:  Conwy Room, Venue Cymru, Llandudno, LL30 1BB

Date:  Saturday, 23 March 2013

Time:  1235-1345

FSB Wales will be discussing its latest research on how small businesses fare in priority sectors in Wales, as well as the latest Welsh statistics from its Small Business Index with Labour politicians in Llandudno.

FSB Wales is taking its research to the politicians at each of the main parties'' spring conferences in Wales.  A fringe event at the Plaid Cymru conference in Beaumaris was well attended and kick-started a debate on the future of economic development policy in Wales.

Small Businesses in Priority Sectors – a report by Cardiff Business School commissioned by FSB Wales - came to the conclusion that small businesses run the risk of being overlooked by the Welsh Government''s Economic Renewal Plan.

Welsh Policy Unit Chair for the Federation of Small Businesses, Janet Jones, said:

"This report has told us that those running small and medium sized businesses within the priority sectors are often unable to identify themselves as businesses in receipt of additional government support.  We are keen to discuss the findings with politicians from all parties."

FSB Wales will also be taking the report to the Welsh Liberal Democrats and Welsh Conservatives'' Spring Conferences in April.
