FSB ‘Share the Knowledge' event highlights marketing skills for business

Reference number: FSB PR 07/2013

The Federation of Small Businesses recently held the first of a series of masterclasses which focused upon marketing and social media. The ‘byte-size' session was held at its Polegate office and led by Alan Foster of AST marketing and Mark Baldwin (pictured right) of Talkativeonline.

The session covered marketing plans, branding, design and how to use social media to gain customers and sales. It was received well by the audience of FSB member businesses, who paid a nominal £5 for a two-hour evening session with light refreshments. Tutors Alan and Mark were impressed by the quality of questions and pleased that many business owners remained for some post-session networking.

Darran Hathaway, Chairman of the FSB Eastbourne, Lewes and Wealden branch said:

"We are responding to our members needs and they said they wanted a convenient, series of practical evening business sessions, led by local experts. We will cover the new HMRC real-time information (RTI) accounting regulations in February and this will be followed by sessions on cash-flow accounting and health and safety for business. In the continuing tough and competitive economy the FSB needs to do all it can to support SMEs and real-life entrepreneurs."

The events are on the FSB''s local website, together with the regular networking business breakfast on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the British Queen on the A22 in Willingdon.
