FSB reacts to steady inflation figures

Commenting on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which remained steady at 0.3% in February, Mike Cherry, National Chairman at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said:

“Small business confidence has faltered and is now at its lowest level since 2013, reflecting the challenging economic outlook and significant policy challenges on the horizon. Keeping business operating costs low at this time is therefore important and FSB members will welcome the certainty provided by this ongoing period of low inflation.

“In the face of challenging business conditions, it is right that the Bank of England remains cautious over the prospect of raising interest rates in the near future.
