FSB Wales Blog - FSB Awards Winner’s story – Ateb

Llinos Yorweth and Rhys Evans of Ateb

Llinos Iorweth and Rhys Evans are the team behind Anglesey-based Ateb Cymru and triumphed in the Business Start-up of the Year category at the FSB Awards in Wales in 2017. Here, they talk about how they benefitted from their awards win and what they have been up to since.

There are many challenges associated with setting up a new business – one of them is to raise your profile and to tell potential clients that you are out there.  So, as a start-up we were looking for opportunities to share key messages about Ateb’s services with other businesses and organisations who could benefit from our offer. The FSB awards gave us an ideal platform to do just that.

The awards event in Cardiff was a great networking opportunity for us – we met key FSB contacts from across Wales, as well as meeting other small business owners who face similar challenges to us. We were delighted to win the award – it was certainly a surprise and gave us a real boost.

As a result of the win we managed to secure great media coverage locally as well as on social media. It was fantastic publicity for us as a new business and gave us the confidence that we were doing something right.

We are now in our second full year of trading – and the business is doing well. We have increased our turnover by 50% with the forecast for the next financial year also looking good with a further increase and new clients coming on-board. We are now looking to recruit and are developing our offer so that we can continue to grow and thrive as a business.

We will be looking at the FSB awards again this year and are aiming to submit and entry. We would encourage any small business to go for it and put themselves forward for an award – there are categories to suit all types of businesses. It’s a great opportunity to gain some positive PR and to learn from other businesses in different sectors.
