A wrap of the week’s small business news from FSB’s London Press, Policy and Public Affairs Office. To sign-up for Weekly Brief emails, please use this link

Confidence bounces back
FSB hit the headlines this week after its Q4 Small Business Index (SBI) showed confidence has bounced back to the level reported before the EU referendum campaign began. The SBI has now moved into positive territory, which means that more small businesses feel confident than those that feel the opposite. Read the full press release, blog and see photos from our breakfast event held at Parliament. This gained coverage in The Sun, Daily Express, Daily Mail, The Independent , AOL, BBC News Channel, Sky News online, MSN, CNBC online, and The Times.

NEW SURVEY: Regulation after Brexit
FSB members: you should now have received an email from Martin McTague, inviting you to take part in our latest survey. We want to know what kind of regulations impact your business. And we need your views on how the Government could help you deal with regulation after the UK leaves the EU. This is the final survey in our current Brexit series, and it should take 10 -15 minutes to complete. For any queries, contact Claire.

Tube strikes disruption
FSB was quoted in several media outlets this week, as tube strike disruption hit the capital. Previous FSB strike data showed that 58 per cent of our London members were negatively affected by shutdowns, with most saying cancelled meetings (59%), staff absences (43%) and difficulty transporting goods and services (18%) were the main problems. See the coverage in City AM, Daily Telegraph, MSN and Evening Standard.

Do you employ an apprentice? Exclusive webinar
Would you like a say in the design of the new Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS), which will allow you to buy apprenticeship training after the levy comes in? Would you like to help shape the ‘voucher transfer’ process where large, levy-paying employers can share their apprenticeship funding with other businesses? The Department for Education is hosting a webinar exclusively for FSB members on Friday 19th January at 3pm to share information and seek feedback on the functionality of the system. Please contact Annie Peate for more information.
