A mid-Wales manufacturing business is celebrating after moving into a brand-new facility from which it hopes to expand its international sales.
Exports currently account for 38 per cent of sales for Zip-Clip, a company that designs and manufactures innovative suspension systems for installing heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
The business opened its new £1.8 million facility earlier this year on Offa’s Dyke Business Park in Welshpool. At 17,500 square feet, Zip-Clip’s new premises are more than twice the size of its previous facility.
Zip-Clip has big ambitions. It already exports to 23 countries, but plans to use its new facility to ramp up international trade. It has plans to increase worldwide sales to
60 per cent of overall sales by 2018.
“Without this new facility we couldn’t even consider growth, and now we have the space to expand and target new markets,” says Matthew Clay-Michael, Managing Director of Zip-Clip.
“As well as securing a three-year £1 million contract with a major global manufacturer of electrical containment systems, we are in talks with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of lighting products to make a bespoke lighting suspension system.
“We experienced 24 per cent growth in sales last year and plan to achieve at least 15 per cent growth year-on-year over the next three years, which is achievable given the increased capacity.”
