The Fredericks Foundation wants to build a Women's Loan Fund to provide loans and support women with a viable business idea who cannot access funds from banks and other conventional lenders.
You can see a campaign trailer here:
The Women's Loan Fund will lend small amounts of money to women, who then repay it in order that others can then receive help from the fund. Fredericks Foundation see this as a sustainable solution to the lack of affordable start up finance available, specifically to women.
Why focus on women?
• Women are at least 14 times more likely to live in poverty and less likely to qualify for full time paid employment.
• Social impact of lending to women is far greater.
Whilst open to all women with a business idea we will focus on:
• Single parent families: 35% of children in poverty live in a lone-parent family and 92% of lone-parent families in the UK are headed by women.
• Migrant communities and ethnic minorities: 14% of the UK are non UK born citizens.
• Women with disabilities: 39% of people in poverty live in a family where at least one person is disabled
• NEETs (young people not in education, employment or training): 14% of UK population.
If you would like to support our Crowdfunder Appeal and help more women start their own businesses and change their lives and their families lives for the better, please donate what you can and share our appeal with others.
