Businesses made themselves Cyber secure at the #FSBConnect St Albans

The last meeting of #FSBConnect St Albans was held on Monday, 30 July  from 5.30 – 8.00 at Regus St Albans at 2  Victoria Square and featured Michael Nadasdy,  programme manager  for Cyber Crime from Hertfordshire County Council.

Michael talked to businesses about the best way they can stay safe from Cyber-crime and he outlined some of the ways that that  on-line fraud is being committed. He also give  tips to small businesses on how they can protect their data from cyber criminals.

Michael said: “I very much enjoyed  the event.  We know that around  two thirds of businesses in Hertfordshire  have been victims of cyber-enabled crime in the last two years,  my role has been set up to help tackle this problem and give business some ideas about how they my protect themselves.”

Development manager, Caron Kendall said: “#FSBConnect is always a very relaxed and enjoyable way of networking with other small businesses. Regular members tell me that they are making some valuable contacts from these events as well as finding it an enjoyable way of spending the time between work and home.”

The format of the networking meeting allows everyone  at the event to “pitch their wares” in two-minute slots to their fellow attendees. The concept  is part of a successful series of national FSB networking events  in which small business owners have a chance to meet fellow business owners and the events are open to both FSB members and non-members alike.

The evening event costs £10 for members and non-members and includes tea or coffee and  a buffet supper and as well as the formal networking, there will usually be a speaker at the event as well as a business card draw which will give the winner five minutes to say more about a topic of their choice.

The event will always be on the last Monday of the month at Regus,  St Albans, 2  Victoria Square and the next event  will be on 24 September and will feature Justine Perry of local marketing agency,  Cariad Marketing.  For further information  go to www.fsb.org.uk/regions/east-of-england or contact Caron Kendall on 01525 875866 or caron.kendall@fsb.org.uk
