The countdown to the Government’s Making Tax Digital scheme going live has well and truly begun – on April 1 it will be mandatory for businesses with turnover above £85,000 to maintain digital accounting records and file electronic tax returns.
But what does that actually mean for your business, and how can you ensure you meet the new requirements?
FSB is launching a series of Making Tax Digital seminars across the UK, allowing small business owners the chance for face-to-face advice and have their own specific questions answered.
The seminars will be presided over by David Marples, Underwriting Compliance Manager of Abbey Tax, providers for FSB Tax Investigation Protection.
David has worked his entire career in the tax arena, starting with HMRC as an Inspector of Taxes before joining Abbey Tax where he has represented members of the FSB who have been selected by HMRC for an enquiry into their business affairs. This role also involves giving advice to FSB members in relation to maintaining business records in an ever changing environment with increased statutory requirements.
The nationwide series of seminars is part of a full range of resources that FSB is putting together in order to help small firms meet their requirements as part of the Making Tax Digital programme.
