How you can avoid being hit by energy price rises

Consumers are being hit with another hike in energy costs after Centrica, the owners of British Gas, announced a 12.5 per cent rise in electricity costs.

The change will take effect from September 15 and effect more than 3 million people.

However, there is an alternative for business owners and the self-employed.

Most businesses can save up to 30% year with an average saving of £1,150* by switching supplier and FSB Energy make the process quick and easy.

It takes time to compare quotes - something that business owners don't often have a lot of. That's where FSB Energy comes in - our experts can compare tariffs for you, finding a competitive deal that suits you and make your bills cheaper.”

Jennifer Millet, Commercial Director of FSB Energy, said: “This latest set of price hikes are yet another blow to consumers. British Gas have followed the rest of the Big Six by increasing its standard variable tariff, and it’s the UK’s households that will be worse off. The best thing to do now is to switch supplier and avoid paying over the odds for energy, especially as we enter the winter months. Many could find themselves out of pocket otherwise.

"For business owners, we’ve seen prices creeping up. And unfortunately, what we can expect is more of the same for them."
