How Brexit and the end of the EU-US Privacy shield impacts UK businesses is the presentation at this month's free regular networking for small businesses with interests in the Kingston and surrounding areas, held regularly on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

Event details

A virtual networking group aimed at supporting businesses in and around Kingston-upon-Thames. Following the success of our 2020 events we would be delighted if you could join us at this first meeting of 2021.

Our Speaker Session

How Brexit and the end of the EU-US Privacy shield impacts UK businesses: Most SMEs collect and process large amounts of personal data.  Often, without realising it, this data is being transferred or ‘exported’ to other countries, especially the US.  For businesses transferring data to the US, the end of the EU-US Privacy Shield means additional steps need to be taken.  And for businesses who provide services into the EU or use EU based providers, there are likely changes needed to those data transfers.  It is a fast moving topic, with more clarity expected in December 2020.  Join us in January 2021 to get the latest updates and advice on what to do next.

Our guest speaker is Karen Heaton , Data Protection and Technology Specialist and founder of Data Protection 4 Business has over 20 years experience working in and around the finance and technology sectors delivering complex technology and change projects internationally.  She founded Data Protection 4 Business to provide pragmatic guidance and support for SME’s for all their technology,  data protection compliance and data security needs.
