About the speakers
Michael is the London Regional Chair of the Federation of Small Businesses, with responsibilities for both member and political engagement, lobbying and policy development. He is also a trustee of several charities.
Michael has many years’ experience as a diversity and inclusion practitioner, with a passion for equality and social justice in the workplace and beyond. He has worked with young people with severe learning disabilities on integration programmes in the 1980s, with older people recovering from strokes and spinal injuries and was also the chief executive of a small national mental health charity.
Having recovered from brain damage in 2005 which left him with limited mobility, Julian realised there were many barriers for disabled people returning to work. With his strong HR background, he founded the award-winning consultancy Delsion in 2015, focusing on diversity and inclusion, including learning and development. Julian made Swansea the first Disability Confident city in the UK. He was listed as one of the most influential disabled business leaders in the UK in the Shaw Trust Power 100 (2018 & 2020) and was included in the People Management Diversity & Inclusion Power List (2020).
Chris Hardess has been working in Information Technology for over 30 years with the last 8 years at Microsoft as a Consultant and Technical Specialist covering Security & Cloud Endpoints. Chris is also an Accessibility champion at Microsoft, a voluntary role with members evangelizing and educating companies, organizations, clubs and societies about the Accessibility features available from Microsoft as well as the drivers for adoption. Originating from the North West he now lives in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Mike Adams is CEO of Purple, a cutting edge organisation changing the disability conversation with businesses and disabled people, Purple is unique in that it also provides direct support services to over 4,500 disabled people to lead more independent lives.
Mike has been named in the Shaw Trust Power List of the UK’s top 100 most influential disabled people for 2021 and was awarded an OBE in 2012 for his services to disability.
