Director Elections Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility requirements for Directors are set out in the Articles of Association and in the Director Elections Regulations.

In order to stand for election or re-election, at the point of nomination, candidates must satisfy the following eligibility criteria: 

  • be and have been a fully paid up Member of FSB, entitled to vote, for a minimum continuous period of three years
  • not hold a self-employed service contract with FSB or one of its subsidiaries or any service provider to FSB or one of its subsidiaries
  • demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the Articles of Association and objectives of FSB
  • not hold any position or contract which would create or could be perceived to create a material conflict with the interests of FSB
  • not be disqualified from holding office as a Director under the Companies Act 2016
  • if elected, not be likely to bring FSB into disrepute or attract adverse publicity
  • if elected, would not have held office in any particular Director role of FSB for a period of more than six consecutive years     

    for National Chairman, National Vice Chairman or Strategic Director

  • have a proven track record and relevant experience consistent with the proposed role;

for Non - Operational Directors

  • have served as a voting member of National Council for a period of not less than 20 months in the five-year period immediately prior.
