A diagnosis of cancer usually comes as a huge shock to people and their families. Help is needed to come to terms with the diagnosis, understand options for surgery and treatment, and to cope with the side-effects and long-term implications.
While treatment and surgery in the NHS is excellent, unfortunately there is usually very little time to provide the softer skills. Having access to someone who has plenty of time to listen on a regular basis can be invaluable both during treatment and while in recovery.
In addition to the long-term support of the personal advisor, they may identify that an individual would benefit from a course of face-to-face therapy or counselling. FSB Care advisors use their expertise to assess which would be the most appropriate therapy for each customer, and arrange it very quickly, often avoiding a long wait on the NHS and getting people on the road to recovery much sooner.
There is no typical cancer experience. As an FSB member, you can get help through each and any part of your unique experience. FSB Care can support you if you are worried about cancer, right through to coping after any treatment, your dedicated personal advisor is on hand.
I would not have been able to get through this without her help, guidance and genuine care about my wellbeing.
