Non Operational Director

Gillian MacEwan

Gillian was a member of former Executive Board and became a Non-Operational Director for FSB in March 2015. She and her husband joined FSB in 2002 and became volunteers later that same year.

As a member of the FSB’s Procedures Committee, Gillian was an integral part of the team that helped to review and rewrite FSB’s internal rules and processes – an essential part of FSB’s modernisation programme. This was a task requiring considerable organisational knowledge, pragmatism and attention to detail. Gillian has held branch and regional positions for many years; she became heavily involved and an FSB volunteer in 2008 in order to help rebuild her local FSB branch (Perth and Kinross) and she was voted Branch chair in 2009 (a position she still holds). Other roles have included Regional Secretary for North East Scotland - all of this knowledge gives her an invaluable insight for her current role as well as her behind the scenes work with Procedures.

Gillian has run her own business alongside her husband since graduating from Stirling University in 1999.  It’s a business of many diverse elements including event management, training, a garden nursery and even axe throwing!  The business has had to diversify and adapt to the economic environment, not least when the country was severely hit by the foot and mouth outbreak of 2007. This agility meant that the business was able to change, and indeed grow, at a difficult time.

Gillian’s young family has grown up understanding her keen commitment to FSB and her close affinity with, and understanding of, the underlying rules and process of FSB make her a vital member of FSB’s Board.
