Membership related FAQ

Where can I download my receipt?

You can download your receipt for payment of FSB membership by logging into the website. Select ‘My FSB’ and then ‘My Documents’. Your receipt will be available for download 5 working days after the receipt of payment (or two working days if paid by card).

I've not received my welcome pack, where can I find it?

You can view your digital welcome pack, containing all the documents you need, by logging on to the website. If you have trouble logging on, please contact customer services.

Where can I find my membership number?

You can find your membership number when logged in to your membership dashboard or on your digital membership certificate. The FSB app also has a digital membership card.

Do I receive a VAT receipt for my membership subscription

Your membership payment is VAT exempt. You can download a receipt for your membership by logging in to your member dashboard. The receipt will be available 5 working days after payment has been received (or two working days if paid by card). Please note we don’t issue invoices as standard.

Can I use FSB's logo?

I've just joined, how do I set my password?

Welcome to FSB!

You'll have received an email to the email address you registered with. Click on the link and follow the steps to set up a password and create a security question. Once completed you will then be able to access the member area of the FSB website.

I want to pay by Direct Debit, how do I do this?

Get in touch with our customer services team to set up your Direct Debit payment.

If you are within a month of your membership renewal date, you can also renew and setup your Direct Debit online by logging in to your account and clicking ’My FSB‘ in the top right corner.  Please note the online option will only be available if you are within a month of your renewal date. If you are unsure please contact customer services and we’ll help you, or you can also renew on the FSB app.

Can I help FSB influence Government?

You can make your business and opinions count by joining FSB's Big Voice digital research community. Here you can take part in surveys, research discussions to have your say on issues affecting your business.

My details have changed, how do I let FSB know?

Please do let us know as soon as your details change to ensure we get key information about your membership to you.

You can update your details by logging in and clicking 'My FSB'. You will need your email and password to hand to log in.

I've lost, forgotten or need to reset my password, how do I do this?

If at any time you lose or forget your password, don’t worry, you can easily reset it by clicking the login button on the website and selecting ‘forgotten password’ under the login box.

You’ll be directed to the ‘forgotten password’ page where you’ll need to enter your email address. We will send you an email with a reset link which is valid for 24 hours.

When I joined I was told I would have access to legal templates. I can't find them anywhere?

You can find help with template contracts, dismissal procedures and recruitment policies on the FSB Legal Hub. You can access the documents by logging in to your account on the FSB website. Go to 'My FSB' and choose 'FSB Legal Hub'. Navigate to the employment category or use the search function or document index.

Where can I find general advice on HR issues?

You can contact the legal advice line on 03450 727 727, 24/7. Please have your FSB membership number to hand when calling. You can also book a call on the website or via the FSB app.

What legal and tax cover do I have with membership?

A customer hasn't paid for their invoice, how can you help?

Your first option is to use FSB Debt Recovery which gives you the opportunity to recover your money and provides a full range of services and a dedicated helpline.

Call the legal advice line on 03450 727 727, available 24/7. Remember to have your membership number to hand when calling. You can also book a call on the website or via the FSB app.

Finally, you can also access the FSB Legal Hub and download one of the template letters, located in the debt recovery category. Don't forget you will need to log in with your member number and password.

I'm a new member, can I access all the benefits of FSB membership right away?

Yes. All of your member benefits are active from the time your payment was accepted.

Details can be found in your welcome email which should arrive straight away. You can also view your benefits by logging in to our website.

Remember, you’ll need to create a password first, then you will be able to log in to the website and access your benefits, including essential legal documents and templates.

I have been selected for a tax investigation. What do I do now?

Sign in to your member dashboard and choose the link to the FSB Legal and Business Hub > report a claim. All the information you need to proceed is available here.

Can I use FSB services for other companies?

Yes. Because your FSB membership is tied to you and not the business, you are able to use all the benefits of membership (including the legal protection cover) for any company that you are a director, or a partner in, as long as the total number of employees for all businesses combined does not exceed 249 – as per the terms of membership.

Can I use my accountant if I have a tax investigation?

No. The investigation will be handled by FSB’s legal services team.

However, should the team need any information from your accountant, a fee is agreed between them and will be covered by our legal protection insurance. You can view a copy of the commercial legal expenses policy in the 'My FSB' section of FSB’s website (available on your dashboard once you've logged in).

I need to make a claim on my legal insurance, what should I do?
