A letter to Scarborough
Approx 700 members and staff from the Federation of Small Businesses descended on Scarborough from 20th to 25th March 2012. It was a fantastic experience, that was helped by everyone in Scarborough, from the Management and staff of The Spa, Scarborough, who pulled out all of the stops to ensure the many different requests from us all, were carried out with smiles, to the restaurants who coped so well with the influx of us all.
We had help from the members of the Local Conference Committee who gave so much of their time, and had such fantastic ideas, and produced a wonderful Local Food market for all to enjoy.
We enjoyed seeing the students of the Scarborough College join together in a Taste of Yorkshire cookery competition to produce our Friday night menu, and we also managed to offer some work experience to young students of the college who were studying in several different aspects of conference work.
Our entertainment on Friday evening was helped along by a fantastic show put on by Mr Tony Peers, and we had comments from our members saying that it ranks as one of the best nights entertainment ever from those who attend our regular conferences.
The Saturday evening started with the wonderful voices of the Barnburgh Male Voice Choir, and put us all in the mood to enjoy our evening. We will certainly be taking away very positive memories of our visit to Scarborough, and our thanks go to all of those who helped make it so successful.
