Policy Dinner a big Success

On 28th June, FSB Wales held its annual Policy Chair’s Dinner in the St David’s Hotel, Cardiff Bay. This annual event brings together politicians, business people, media and many others from all walks of Welsh public life.

On the same day, FSB Wales published a new report: “A National Ambition: Enterprise Education, Schools and the Welsh Economy” which called on the Welsh Government, businesses and schools to work together and ensure that we are doing everything we can to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The event was sponsored by Cardiff Metropolitan University and Abellio, and guests were treated to an inspirational key note speech from Lee Sharma, CEO of Simply Do Ideas.

Lee started his first business in his bedroom in 1999 with no money or business experience, learning first-hand how intimidating it can be to take the first step in starting a business from scratch. Within three rollercoaster years, he then successfully grew the business to include high-profile clients such as Legal & General, Panasonic and KPMG.

In 2002 Lee then went on to helping start-up businesses. He managed entrepreneurship programmes across government and education and obtained a PGCE and Masters in Entrepreneurship Education. Then, in 2015 he founded educational technology venture Simply Do Ideas; an online platform designed to support start-up businesses.

Lee’s speech highlighted that we need to foster and encourage entrepreneurial thinking in the next generation of the workforce, a sentiment clearly echoed in FSB Wales’ latest report.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our event; it was a huge success and we look forward to seeing you all again next year! Don’t forget to take a look at the photos from the event on our Facebook page.
