FSB Northern Ireland welcomes Guiding Principles for Dialogue on ROI/NI

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has welcomed the EU paper outlining Guiding Principles for Dialogue on Ireland/Northern Ireland.

On reading the document, FSB Northern Ireland Policy Chair, Wilfred Mitchell OBE commented:

“We welcome that the unique situation of Northern Ireland is recognised by the EU, and that there is a clear signal that there is flexibility in finding solutions.

“FSB members in Northern Ireland have significant concerns about the future of trading and markets, labour availability, funding for business support and regulation, as well as considering the potential opportunities that Brexit might bring. But our members’ main concerns still remain the issue of political stability and the need for greater certainty, in order to strengthen their confidence and enable them to make informed decisions."

Mr Mitchell concluded: “We welcome the EU’s confirmation of its commitment to Northern Ireland and Ireland, and this paper contributes to an environment which will encourages innovative thinking and solutions.”
