Around the North Staffordshire Branch Area

North Staffordshire branch covers the City of Stoke-on-Trent, the towns of Cannock, Leek, Stafford, Stone and the Staffordshire Moorlands. Farming and rural industries are a major business sector throughout the area and the Moorlands, in particular, has mostly sheep and arable hill farms. The market town of Leek, the northernmost town of the region, is a developing centre for antiques, while Newcastle-under-Lyme has a wide range of specialised retail outlets.

At the centre of the North Staffordshire branch area is the canal town of Stone, which is rapidly developing an excellent reputation for gourmet restaurants. To the south is Cannock, formerly a major area for coal-mining, where the leisure industry now makes a significant contribution to the local economy. However, the economy of North Staffs is not all rural. The City of Stoke-on-Trent, consisting of the 6 towns of Longton, Stoke-upon-Trent, Hanley, Burslem, Fenton and Tunstall and collectively referred to as The Potteries, is synonymous with the Ceramics industry, through the famous names of Wedgewood and Royal Doulton. Stafford, the county town and gateway to Cannock Chase, is home to Stafford Castle, Shugborough Hall and the Staffordshire County Showground and with the University of Staffordshire at nearby Beaconsfield, it is a major centre for transport, engineering, research, development and manufacturing.

The North Staffs Branch holds regular member's meetings with top class speakers on current topics of interest and importance to the business community, which are open to all members of the North Staff Branch. In addition, it holds regular committee meetings where non-committee members are welcome to attend as observers.
