The FSB exists to represent its members' views and campaign on their behalf.
In the South West, wherever possible, the FSB is represented by a member currently running a business. We support them with information and research, as well as expenses. More information is on the 'SWAPU Representation' page.
Government and other official bodies contact us to find out what small businesses are thinking or how they might react to various issues. We want to involve as many members as possible without overloading already busy people.
So we provide this feedback using a number of e-mail information/discussion groups on various Policy topics. If there are any consultations out on those issues, we consult with these groups in formulating policy. They are also invaluable when London Office is looking for case studies to support a campaign.
Issues currently covered are Education, Transport, Environment, Tourism, Economics, H&S, ICT, Public Procurement, Rural, Urban. If you would like to find out more, click on the link at the bottom of the page.
We have developed training to enable more members to get involved. This can be tailored to meet the needs of the regions or branches in question. SWAPDO has also developed some 'How to...' guides dealing with some of the frequently asked questions. Click menu above for the information - but you will need your membership details to log in.
If the help you want is not covered, or you have a suggestion or comment on these guides, please contact Vivienne Rayner on the link below.
We have also developed a number of briefing notes about specific policy issues. These are available from the menu marked 'Briefing notes'. You will need your membership details to view them.
