Entrepreneurs in the UK have to deal with the world's longest tax code. This must be addressed. We know that 60 per cent of the country's small businesses report that the UK tax system has a negative impact on their ability to invest and create jobs.

The FSB provides free-through-membership tax advice to entrepreneurs from HMRC trained specialists, and offers comprehensive tax protection against in-depth tax investigations. 

Small businesses actually pay proportionately higher tax than large businesses. Tax increases are detrimental to small businesses in the same way that targeted decreases can stimulate growth. The Government must take steps to simplify the tax system and introduce a targeted and time specific VAT cut for the tourism and construction sectors, which are dominated by the smallest of businesses and significantly contribute to GDP.
