Reduce the regulatory burden

Regulatory burdenThe FSB is working hard to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses. Our policy paper, titled Regulatory Reform – a route to economic recovery, calls for a moratorium on all new business regulations and a rapid simplification of existing laws - which could create more than 300,000 jobs.

The Government announced that between 2010 and 2015 it will cut £6.5 billion of all regulation costs, including administration. The FSB has been campaigning for a specific target on the wider costs of regulation to ensure that businesses feel real benefits on the ground.

It is important that FSB members are heard. This is your opportunity to make specific suggestions: what regulation needs to be modified or removed? What guidance needs reforming?

Use the form below to make suggestions to the FSB. Please be as specific as possible, including information about the regulator/enforcement agency involved, and names of forms or procedures that you want to report.

Please specify if you are happy to have your suggestion sent through to the Government's Better Regulation Executive (BRE). If so, they will publish your query and name, and the response on their website.  The BRE guarantees that it will respond to your suggestion within 90 days of receiving it. To find out more about the BRE visit its website.

If you do not want your suggestion to be sent to the BRE, the FSB will retain it to inform our policy work for the future. It is important that Government is made aware of the specific problems that you are experiencing so that we can influence the areas where cuts are made. Allowing the BRE to see your suggestions can be very positive and could result in change.

If your suggestion is not sent to the BRE you will not receive a response.
