Listen to the Business Beat

logo"The FSB is encouraging small businesses to engage with their local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships and report crime. This will inform local police priorities and crime mapping."

Mike Cherry, FSB Home Affairs Chairman

Crimes against business make up the ‘forgotten fifth' of all recorded crime. FSB statistics show that 64 per cent of businesses have been a victim of crime in the last year (a rise from 57 per cent in 2006). Only 45 per cent of businesses report crime because of a lack of faith in the criminal justice system, therefore official crime statistics do not reflect the true extent of the problem.

Neighbourhood Policing Teams offer an opportunity for businesses to set the right local agenda in the fight against crime. All police forces have committed to a Policing Pledge which sets out ten key principles in order to offer a good service to their local community.
