Oxon_Awards

On October 22nd 55 members of the FSB along with around 25 CEOs, Leaders and senior managers from local authorities and big businesses gathered at the historic Divinity School of the Bodleian Library to witness the FSB honouring four individuals that had made outstanding contributions to the local small business community over the past twelve months.

The award winners were:

Will Barton of West Oxfordshire District Council

Dave Waller of Oxfordshire County Council

Karen Matthews of Cherwell District Council

Dr Jean Mithcell of Oxford innovation

Sponsored by Business Link, the event also raised the importance of small businesses and the "real economy" and also to promote the FSBs Keep Trade Local campaign.  The event also included an exhibition demonstrating the diversity of the businesses that are members of the FSB and the value of buying from local businesses. Fantastic local windes and drinks were supplied by the Oxford Wine Company and delicious refreshments were provided by local catering specialists Lamb Catering.

    Barry Wheatley, Branch Chairman

Barry WheatleyThe Oxfordshire branch is very active: both with events and working on policy issues with local MP's, local government and key organisations. We try to ensure that we continue to contribute to the strategic policy making process of local government organisations. It is our aim to be consulted by the authorities on all matters that impacts on the operation of small businesses at an early stage, rather than fighting a rear guard action, once decisions have been made. At the same time we have a full calendar of networking and business events around the county. Click here for my full chairman's report. The Branch welcomes members who would like to get involved. Please contact Barry for more information.
