"Lifting the Barriers to Growth" 2006 tells us that nearly 25% of members sold into local authorities in the past year. It is therefore an important market for many of you. We would like to hear of your experiences – good and bad, and whether it is getting better or more difficult. (cost, accreditation, complexity of forms etc) We will be working with the local authorities to develop policies that meet what you need.

EMDA Portal

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has launched a new ‘procurement portal' for regional firms to tender for contracts – and help get better value for taxpayers' money.

The new system means suppliers can view emda contract announcements in real time via the agency's website, and will make it easier for small and medium sized companies to apply.

Click here to go to website, which lists all historical, present and future purchases managed by emda.

There are also links to the other English Regional Development Agencies, European tenders and information about contracts for the London 2012 Games.

Alliance for Enterprise - Helping businesses in Bolsover, Ashfield and Mansfield sell to the Public Sector

Businesses in Bolsover, Ashfield or Mansfield are being offered extra help to either start selling to the public sector or to help them increase the number and value of contracts that they are awarded.

Selling into the public sector often looks complicated and time consuming, but through the Alliance for Enterprise www.allianceforenterprise.org, a Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) funded program, a team of advisors are there to help you.

The advisors are there to provide one to one support at your business. They will also be holdling group seminars and meet the buyer workshops to help you navigate your way through the tendering processes.

They are creating a local supply chain network and database of local businesses to ensure local businesses get every opportunity to meet the supply demands of the public sector. Members of the network receive weekly notifications of local tendering opportunities.
