The Belfast South branch area encompasses BT4-8, BT16 and BT18-23 and is made up of over 1500 business owners in the Belfast South & East, North Down and Ards area. In today's challenging business climate, FSB membership makes more economic sense than ever. If you have friends or business colleagues who have not yet joined FSB, why not tell them about the benefits of membership and help your branch to grow.

Maximise Cash-flow

Belfast South and Belfast City branches held a "Maximising
Cashflow" event on Thursday 2 May which was very kindly hosted by Allister
Mulligan of Desk Warehouse. The event
was attended by more than 40 members who were keen to understand how to improve
their business cashflow.
The main speaker for the event was James McGovern of Charis
Consultancy and Finance who focussed on identifying the different types of
funding available, funding bodies and more importantly how to develop a
Business Plan that would help to secure the funding identified.
Feedback from the members was extremely positive with over
90% agreeing that the topic and presenter were either good or excellent. In fact, the presentation was so good that it
is likely that we will host this event again in the Autumn in the North Down
area.
Elaine McKeown, Chair of Belfast South said, "We are
absolutely delighted at the turnout for this event. The combination of topic, venue and timing
all converged to make this a very attractive event for members".
Our next event will focus on the other side of the balance
sheet: tax savings and credit control, both also critical to business
success. This event
will be on Thursday 19 September – venue to be advised.

Changes you need to know

(L-R) Ruth Thompson, The Behaviour Effect, Stephen Blayney, Segner
Ltd, Kelley Magill, DNT Chartered Accountants
Belfast South held another successful event on Thursday 2
February. The theme for the event was "Changes you need to know" and focussed
on the up and coming changes to PAYE and workplace pensions.
The speakers
were: Kelley Magill, DNT Chartered Accountants, Stephen Blayney, Segner Ltd and
Ruth Thompson, The Behaviour Effect.
The speakers were excellent and
clearly communicated what will be required from businesses both now and in the
next few years. Of particular interest is the FSB' s workplace pension
scheme which demonstrated the organisation's focus on helping and supporting
local businesses.
